Donald K. Johnson, C.M.

Mr. Johnson obtained his BScEE at the University of Manitoba in 1957 and an MBA from the Ivey Business School in 1963. After 41 years with BMO Nesbitt Burns, Mr. Johnson retired as Vice Chairman in 2004, but continues as a Senior Advisor.

Mr. Johnson serves on the Advisory Board of the Ivey Business School, the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation, Business for the Arts, the Toronto Foundation for Student Success and the United Way of Greater Toronto Major Individual Giving Cabinet. He is currently chairing a $15 million fundraising Campaign to create an Eye Centre at the Toronto Western Hospital.

Mr. Johnson also led a team of volunteers from the charitable sector that was successful in convincing the federal government to eliminate the capital gains tax on gifts of listed securities, after a 12-year lobbying campaign. He has been the recipient of a number of awards from not-for-profit organizations and was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in June 2005.
