Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year - 1995
The Honourable Henry N.R.Jackman
Lieutenant Governor of Ontario
The Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, nominated by Anne Moore & Associates, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Canadian Opera Company, Design Exchange, Stratford Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and Royal Conservatory of Music, is a recipient of the 1995 Outstanding Philanthropist Award.
The Lieutenant Governor's philanthropic support of the community, particularly in the Arts, has been well-documented over the past 30 years. His latest gift of $ 1 million in January, 1995, to the Arts Council Foundation from the Henry N.R. Jackman Foundation, is just one example of his generosity. This capital gift will endow three annual awards to non-profit arts organizations which best demonstrated improved community support.
The Honourable Mr. Jackman has motivated others by example through his volunteer activites with such organizations as the Canadian Opera Company, the Atlantic Council of Canada, the Canadian Red Cross Pension Fund, Regent Park Community Health Centre, the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, the Canadian Foundation for Aids Research, the Institute for Research on Public Policy, Toronto Western Hospital, The Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Ontario Heritage Foundation, to name a few.
Mr. Jackman continues, in his public role as Lt. Governor of Ontario, to applaud the volunteer sector and encourage the corporate sector, in particular, to become more generous in it's support of charitable organizations
