Congress 2007 - Issues in Philanthropy Forums

October 17, 2007

The AFP Greater Toronto Chapter is excited to introduce a special series of Issues in Philanthropy Forums.

These forums will focus on some of the key challenges and opportunities facing fundraisers and their organizations today. Whether you’re a volunteer, a seasoned development professional or someone new to the field, these are the issues you should be thinking about.

Issues in Philanthropy Forums are included in your registration for Congress 2007. The forums will take place on Thursday, November 15th at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building, from 2:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you can’t attend our three-day Congress, why not join us for this one day? Come to a session in the morning, celebrate the best in our profession at our National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon, and stay for one of the forums in the afternoon. The cost for this stimulating day is only $225!

If you only have half a day to spare, you can attend the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon and then participate in a forum for only $150!

You can choose from among the following engaging forums:

Forum #1: The Opposable Mind: Find out what sets true leaders apart from the rest! Roger L. Martin, dean of the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, will share excerpts from his new book on integrative thinking.

Forum #2: Public Perception and the Media: A panel of experts will address the challenges facing charities today and how public opinion is being shaped by the media and others. Panelists: Kevin Donovan, Investigative Editor, Toronto Star; Frances Lankin, President and CEO, United Way of Greater Toronto; Donald S. McCreesh, Chair, Imagine Canada; and Martin P. Connell, Chair, Toronto Community Foundation. Moderator: John Macfarlane, Editor, Toronto Life.

Forum #3: Fresh Perspectives: What are the latest perspectives in fundraising that will help you do your job better, raise more money, and keep up with a rapidly changing world? With Alan Clayton, Managing Director, Cascaid Group Limited.

Forum #4: Donors Speak Up: An esteemed group of philanthropists will answer the questions most of us never get to ask, but wish we could! Moderator: Nicholas Offord, President, The Offord Group Inc.

These fantastic forums are not to be missed! Come join us on November 15th to be inspired, celebrate the tremendous difference our profession makes in peoples’ lives and in our world, reacquaint with colleagues, and gain some new insights that will help you on the job.
