AFP Greater Toronto Chapter Salutes Black History Month

February 9, 2010

In recognition of Black History Month, the AFP Greater Toronto Chapter is proud to celebrate the contributions of the black community to the fundraising profession and philanthropic sector.

People of African descent have been part of what is now Canada for over four centuries. Their contribution as artists, farmers, builders, soldiers, inventors and leaders is great, but not well-known. As we look towards the future, we highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating the vital role this community has played and continues to play throughout our history.

The vibrancy and diversity of Toronto’s black community has enriched and influenced the fundraising sector in a unique and exceptional way.  This month, we are excited to spotlight prominent and inspiring AFP Greater Toronto Chapter members, who are reaching new frontiers in professional leadership and excellence. We bring you their unique and personal perspectives and reflections on Black History Month, fundraising, and more.
